Frizzese Rosato Frizzante
100% Sangiovese with a few hours maceration. Initial fermentation in stainless steel. Re-fermented in bottle. No filtering or fining, no disgorgement, and minimal added sulfur if necessary.
Scossa Bianco
Canaiolo Bianco, Malvasia and Trebbiano from the same vines as Cibino Bianco, but from the first of three passes of the Maritata vineyard during harvest.
Cibino Bianco
Canaiolo Bianco Malvasia and Trebbiano from the 200 year old Vita Maritata and vita Alberata vines (14th century Tuscan method of marrying vines to a tree). Alberata is a variation with vines growing up and through trees and linked to vines on other trees. The fruit is macerated throughout its alcoholic fermentation and then pressed and aged in anfora. . * Very limited
Gemma Rosato
Field blend of various (unknown) red and white heirloom varieties from a tiny vineyard of 150 plants, with an average age of 90 years old. Spontaneous fermentation without temperature control. Aged in Amphora until bottling in the Spring. Zero added sulfur and no filtering or fining. *Extremely limited
"Severino" Rosso
100% Canaiolo (Severino is the name of his friend and the grower that owns the tiny vineyard Arnaldo gets the Canaiolo from). Spontaneous carbonic fermentation. Aged in stainless steel. No filtering or fining and minimal sulfur additions.
Help! Rosso (Liters)
100% sangiovese liter format from albarello trained vines. This wine also incorporates semi-carbonic maceration. Arnaldo calls this his "vino di soccorso" or "emergency wine" that he decided to bottle as a liter during the throws of the Italian lockdown...it's not a "cheap and easy" liter, rather a serious wine that is super delicious and fun to drink...and it's helping Arnaldo keep the lights on at the Taverna.
l'Acuto Rosso
100% sangiovese from the same hilltop, schist-soiled vineyard as the Selle dell'Acuto red wine he makes. This, however, is done with semi-carbonic maceration and aged only in cement and stainless steel, making it fresher and more lively, less classico than the Selle cuvee.
Sella dell'Acuto Rosso
This is 100% Sangiovese from Arnaldo's tiny vineyard plot on the crest of the ridge line between Corton and Castiglion Fiorentino (where Arnaldo lives). The "Selle" means the saddle of the hilltop and the plot is high in elevation, has amazing exposure so the grapes are generously ripe and the soils are rich in calcareous-clay. Half the wine is aged in cement while the other half is aged in old barrel. If you can only get one cuvee from Arnaldo, get some of this!
Dodo Rosso
Truly a rare bird! This is Arnaldo's top cuvee and the one he makes, of course, the least of. This Sangiovese is wild, deep and stout. Longer skin maceration, fermentation in old oak and aging for 2 years in an old tonneaux. *very very limited
